Client Care
Our primary concern at Emm is our clients' satisfaction, comfort, safety, and enjoyment of the AVEDA hairdressing experience.
This page lists our Client Care policies in alphabetical order. If you would like any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Allergies & Reactions
AVEDA products and hair colours are generally safe and rarely cause skin or other reactions; however, an allergic reaction is possible with any hairdressing product.
If you do have a specific allergy to any plant, nut, mineral, chemical, or other substance; or if you have previously experienced a reaction to any hairdressing or colour product of any brand, please inform your stylist before your service commences.
Cancellation Policy
Emm has a 24 hour cancellation policy.
If you need to cancel your appointment, please give us 24 hours notice, so we can offer the appointment to a client on our waiting list. If you cancel within 24 hours, or do not arrive for your appointment, we will charge a 50% cancellation fee, and require a credit card deposit to confirm your next booking.
To ensure that other clients’ services are not disrupted, please call if you are running late for your appointment. We may be unable to honour your booking on busy days if you are more than 15 minutes late for your scheduled appointment time.
Children
We welcome children and babies at our salons, and will endeavour to provide sufficient space to park prams and strollers wherever possible.
Reduced Children’s Pricing is available from Monday to Wednesday. However, full Children’s Pricing applies to children’s appointments on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
We do ask all parents to keep a close eye on their kids - especially the young ones - as hairdressing salons contain a variety of hazards that can be dangerous to small children if roaming unattended. We also ask parents to consider the comfort of other clients in the salon, and limit excessive noise from handheld computer games, iPods, and similar activities.
Comments & Complaints
If you have a comment or complaint about any aspect of our service, please do not hesitate to discuss it immediately with the salon manager or acting manager.
If you would prefer to speak to an owner, please inform a member of our team, and Michele or Daniel will call you as soon as possible. We will, of course, endeavour to address and rectify all complaints as a matter of urgency.
Confirmation Calls
We will endeavour to confirm your booking by telephone, one day before your scheduled appointment. Due to occasional events and circumstances beyond our control, we cannot guarantee this confirmation call service, and our cancellation policy still applies in the event that you do not receive a confirmation call for your appointment.
Complimentary Services
All Emm services include the stress-relieving effects of AVEDA’s signature Aroma Journey, Scalp Massage and Hand Massage — complimentary with every visit. Plus, we offer complimentary obligation-free consultations, massage chairs at every basin, ‘Rainforest Alliance’ coffee, a range of handmade, specialty and organic teas; and the latest fashion and lifestyle magazines.
Credit Cards
We accept Mastercard and Visa credit cards. At the present time, we do not accept American Express or Diners Club cards.
Electronic Equipment
For the comfort and enjoyment of all salon clients, we ask that you limit electronic noise from laptops and iPods, and turn your mobile telephone to silent, during your salon visit.
Fringe Trims
Emm offers complimentary Fringe Trims to existing clients for hair style maintenance between appointments. Please make a Fringe Trim appointment at our Cottesloe or Floreat salons.
Gift Vouchers
Emm Gift Vouchers are valid for one year from the date of purchase, and may be redeemed at our COTTESLOE or FLOREAT salons, for services and/or products as described. Gift Vouchers should be treated like cash. Lost or stolen Gift Vouchers cannot be replaced. The original Gift Voucher must be produced before commencement of service. Gift Vouchers cannot be redeemed for cash; and fully or partially unused Gift Vouchers cannot be refunded or extended. Gift Vouchers are valid only with our salon stamp imprinted. Our 24 hour cancellation policy applies to Gift Voucher appointments; and missed Gift Voucher appointments will incur 50% reduction in the Gift Voucher value in lieu of a cancellation fee. Gift Voucher terms and conditions are subject to change at the discretion of Emm Hair Colour and Body Care. A copy of Gift Voucher terms and conditions appears inside the front cover to each voucher.
Mail Order
We welcome product orders via telephone, email or website. Mail order items are sent by Express Post so that items can be monitored in transit, and delivery can be confirmed, using the unique Express Post consignment ID applied to each item.
Mailing List
We maintain a client mailing list, and email-based mailing list, in order to correspond and communicate with our clients on an occasional basis. If you voluntarily provide us with your postal address and/or email address, you are indicating your consent to be included in our mailing list and/or email-based mailing list.
If you would prefer not to receive postal or email correspondence from us, we would be happy to remove you from our address list. Please ask a member of our team, telephone one of our salons, or email us, with your request, and we will remove you from our database within 72 hours.
Occasionally we have two or more records for a single client in our database, or a mis-spelling which prevents the complete removal of the required records. Therefore, if you do continue to receive postal or email communications from us after you have requested the removal of your details, please contact us immediately so that we can rectify the problem.
Pets
For health and safety reasons, we do not allow any animals into our salons - with the exception of Guide Dogs.
Privacy Policy
Emm is committed to the privacy of our salon clients and website visitors. We will only collect personally identifiable information about you if you choose to provide that information. We will never supply or sell personally identifiable information to any third party, advertiser, or data collector, unless required to do so by Australian Law.
Product Returns
We can only accept the return of damaged or faulty products. For health and safety reasons, we cannot refund or exchange partially used hair, styling, body, or makeup products.
Re-do's
It occasionally happens that your hair colour may not turn out exactly as you wanted. If we have made a technical error in the colouring process we will rectify that error at no additonal cost. However, if the application of your colour was technically correct, but you do not like  the result, we can generally make further changes to your colour, but those additional colour services will be charged at normal prices.
If you wish to ask for a re-do, you must do so within 7 days of your original appointment. Re-do's requested after more than 7 days will be charged at normal prices.
Wherever possible, we will endeavour to schedule re-do appointments with highest priority and minimal delay. However, it may not be possible to accommodate re-do's on the same day as your original appointment if the salon is very busy.
Special Offers
Emm regularly offers Special Services and AVEDA Promotions.
Special Services must be booked and completed at the same appointment time as the main service. Offers are valid until published expiry dates, and may be limited on specific days of the week only.
Retail purchases are excluded from all offers, and offers are not redeemable for cash. Please mention your selected offer when making your appointment.
Students
We offer a 10% Student Discount on hair and colour services from Monday to Wednesday, with a valid Student ID. However, Full Pricing applies to all appointments on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Student Discount does not apply to retail purchases.
Unable to Pay
It occasionally happens that a credit card stops working, or a purse is forgotten. If you are unable to pay for your service at the end of your appointment, we would be happy to assist you in contacting a relative or friend to make credit card payment over the telephone.
If you wish to leave the salon without paying, we may ask to photocopy your drivers licence as proof of identification, and/or leave an item of value (drivers licence, item of jewellery, car keys, etc.) in our possession until payment has been received.
